Congratulations to local student Sophie Rozenberg, who placed in the local Branch 30 poster competition (including eight junior schools) and the broader Zone 2 competitions (10 branches), prior to placing 2nd in the YouthEducation Junior Colour Poster at the District Competition (representing over 50 branches and participating junior schools bounded by Pickering & Lake Simcoe in the west, Bancroft/Haliburton, Havelock/Hastings in the north & Belleville in the east). The Poppy Campaign and the Supporters
Every year, from the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Every year the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 30 Port Hope has supporters who volunteer time, have poppy boxes at their location, donate directly or assist with many different aspects of the Poppy Campaign.
We would like to acknowledge just a few of many who always go above and beyond to support the Poppy Campaign every year.
Thank you to all who contribute. Your help each year is appreciated and immeasurable.

Importance of Remembrance
The Legion's most widely known activity is the annual Poppy campaign that leads up to Remembrance Day. Legion members and other volunteers distribute tens of millions of Poppies, and gratefully accept donations to raise money in support of Veterans and their families.
While November is recognized as a time of Remembrance, for the Legion and for many across the country, Remembrance is a year-long commitment. At any given moment, there are many opportunities available to anyone wishing to show their appreciation for those who served, including:
Most importantly, take a moment now and then to reflect on the freedoms and peace in your life, and to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for all we have today.
